Calculate The Feet Per Square Foot

Measuring feet per square foot is simple.

Square footage is a measurement of area commonly used in the United States. A single square foot is defined as a square with one foot sides. While the square footage gives you an accurate measurement of the area of a space, the measurement does not tell you the actual number of feet in the square footage measurement. You can, however, calculate the feet per square foot of a space by using a tape measure.

Instructions

1. Measure the length of the space using the tape measure. For example, assume the length of a room is 10 feet.

2. Measure the width of the space using the tape measure. For example, assume the width of a room is 5 feet.

3. State the resulting measurements as feet per square footage. Continuing the same example, the feet per square footage of the room is 10 feet by 5 feet and the total square foot age of the room is 50 square feet (10 x 5).
