Rough In Size For A Prehung (Home Depot) 32" Door

Can anyone tell me what the rough opening size should be for a 32 door?

Normally 34 x 82 1/2.......Thats for exterior doors...pretty sure interior are the same.

Gunguy's almost right. Interior doors add 2 height and width with 3/4 jambs. Allows space for shims and out of level headers. Exterior doors have 5/4 jambs. 2 1/4 trim covers gaps.

Interior door rough in dimensions recommended by a number of websites range from 2 - 3 larger than the door width and 1 - 2 1/2 above door height.
Don't forget to put a header, 2 - 2x4's with a 1/2 spacer between them, above the door head.
Think about shimming material. You've got to plug holes around the door in enough places to plumb it and allow it to open freely.
Happy hammering.

2 is more than enough in both directions. But I even agree with shrinking that for interior doors. 3 is way too much, since the door frame is only 3/4 thick for a total of 1 1/2. You don't want too much play to shim. I make sure my hinge side framing is perfectly plumb, and slam the door frame to it. All the shimming will be on the latch side.

All the doors at home depot I have seen have the rough-in dimensions on the package.
