The Moen AquaStream faucet has a two-handle design, each with an interior cartridge controlling water flow for that particular side of the faucet. As you might guess, one operates hot and the other operates cold water. When used together, the result is adjustable temperature water in your sink. If this faucet begins to leak, their is a method of repair and anyone with basic skills will accomplish it in about a half hour.
Instructions
1. Shut off the water valves underneath your sink to stop the water flow to the faucet.
2. Take off the cap on the handle you wish to repair. If you are repairing both, remove the caps on both handles. Unscrew the small screw in the center of the handle with an Allen wrench for Allen head screws, or a matching screwdriver for all other screw types. Pull off the handle.
3. Loosen the retaining washer under the handle, or pull the clip around the cartridge free. Use the tip of the screwdriver to dislodge this part. Once the retaining piece is removed, the cartridge will pull free. Lift it out of the faucet by hand.
4. Insert a new Moen AquaStream cartridge into the faucet fixture. Only cartridges made for your model of AquaStream faucet will work, so double check the part if necessary to make sure it is a match for your model before insertion.
5. Replace the retaining hardware (either the clip or washer) and tighten them. Then replace the handle and install the screw. Put the cap back on and test out the new faucet.
