Know If Your Coach Purse Is Authentic Or A Copy

Know If Your Coach Purse Is Authentic or a Copy?

Authenticating Coach bags becomes increasingly more difficult every year. Counterfeiters have wised up, and are now making replica bags that without a thorough inspection, can sometimes appear to be the real thing. However, Coach manufacturers are keeping up, and there are multitudes of identifying factors that help you discern an authentic Coach bag from a dud. Craftsmanship, signature Coach insignia, and where you purchase your Coach product are all key factors in authenticating your purchase or gift.

Instructions

1. Consider the source of the bag. If it was purchased at a Coach Store, Coach Factory Store, the Coach catalog, an authorized department store like Bloomingdales or Nordstrom, an authorized specialty retail store, some duty free locations, via a corporate account, or through the Coach website, then you should have no reason to be skeptical of the bag's authenticity. Street vendors, flea market, house parties, or online auction sites are all places where you should shop with extreme caution.

2. Examine the craftsmanship of the bag. Observe the quality of the stitching, for pristine perfection. Scrutinize the materials-Coach produces leather products, not plastic, so if the bag's trim is made of anything else, it's a fake. Inspect the metal material of zippers and other hardware. Shoddy craftsmanship is the best sign of an inauthentic Coach product. Look for trademark Coach insignia, like the hanging tag, logo, and/or Signature C.

3. Look for the Coach creed stamped inside of the bag. It should be clear and easy to read, symmetrically aligned on the front or inside of the bag, and the stitching should be perfect. Check grammar and spelling-an authentic bag will have no mistakes.

4. Check the dust cover bag and/or packaging of the product for authenticity. Counterfeiters often slack off when it comes to details on these items.

5. Look over photographs on Coach's website. Match your product up against the specs of the bag, as listed on the website.

Tips Warnings

If you have doubts, then maybe it is not a good idea to purchase or wear the bag.

The counterfeiting industry has been linked to organized crime, drug trafficking and terrorism. You may not receive much help in authenticating a bag when you take it to a Coach retail location, as the company is wary about offering discerning tips to the public in fear of better counterfeits.
