Barbeque Ham On The Grill

Allow ham slices to sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before grilling.

Barbecued ham on the grill provides a welcome change from traditional burgers and hotdogs for a quick summer meal. When served with potato salad and fresh or grilled vegetables, barbecued ham becomes a full meal. Whether you are looking to serve a hungry crowd or simply cooking for the family, grilling ham slices is quick and easy. For additional flavor, marinate ham slices in your favorite barbecue sauce before grilling.

Instructions

1. Trim the skin from the outer rim of the ham slice, leaving a layer of fat. Clip the edges of the slice every 1 to 2 inches to prevent the ham slice from curling when grilled.

2. Marinate the ham slice in your favorite sauce or allow to sit in barbecue sauce for 1/2 hour at room temperature.

3. Brush the grill lightly with oil. This prevents the ham from sticking to the grill while cooking.

4. Preheat the grill on medium heat. A preheated grill sears the outside of the ham slice quickly and seals in moisture.

5. Place the ham slices on the grill, 4 inches above the burner. Sear both sides to lock in moisture.

6. Cook for 5 to 10 minutes with the hood open. Turn the ham slice when the bottom is browned.

7. Grill for an additional 5 to 10 minutes until both sides are evenly browned. Cooking time depends on the thickness of the ham slice, distance from the heat source and grill temperature.
