Bake Without Eggs

Most of us enjoy baked goods, but you may want to cut down on cholesterol and bake dessert without eggs. It takes some modifications and planning, but it's possible to bake without eggs and end up with scrumptious desserts.

Instructions

1. Decide on an egg substitute. Tofu, commercially available powdered egg replacement, mashed bananas, or pureed apples are all examples of egg substitutes. Ground flax seed combined with boiling water is also a great egg replacement.

2. Determine why the recipe requires eggs. In a cake recipe, eggs are used to hold ingredients together and help the cake rise. In cookie recipes, eggs help with texture. Pick your egg replacement based on the function of eggs in your recipe.

3. Don't try to use an egg substitute in recipes that require four or more eggs. Some cake recipes require several eggs and egg whites. It would be nearly impossible to use an egg replacement and end up with a similar result.

4. Search for cookie and cake recipes that don't require eggs. This will allow you to follow an already established recipe without having to try different substitutions.
