There are natural ways to remove ink from clothes
One of the most stubborn stains that can be tough to remove from items of clothing is ink. Trying to remove an ink stain from an article of clothing can sometimes be difficult, especially when you are concerned about further damaging your clothes with abrasive chemical detergents. Fortunately there are many simple and inexpensive natural ways to remove ink from clothes. Chances are you have everything you need to remove ink from clothes in your kitchen cupboards.
Rinse Fresh Ink Stains In Milk
Rinse garments in milk to remove ink
Place only the stained portion of the garment into a small pan and pour milk over the stain until the soiled area is completely covered and saturated. Soak the item for a few minutes, swishing it around to rinse the ink out. When the milk becomes cloudy and discolored, pour it out and add the same amount of fresh milk. Repeat this process until the milk remains white in color. Rinse the inky milk from the garment in cold water and wash as usual.
Baking Soda
Household baking soda--a natural cleaning agent
Baking soda is a known natural cleaning agent and is effective in removing ink stains from most fabrics. Make a thin paste by mixing small amounts of water and baking soda together and apply it directly to the ink-stained area. Being careful not to rub the ink outward and enlarge the stain, rub the baking soda paste firmly into the fabric for several minutes. Rinse thoroughly with clear water, and the stain should diminish. You may have to repeat the process for best results.
Vinegar and Cornstarch
Vinegar is another effective natural agent used to remove tough stains. Using household white vinegar, soak the ink-soiled area of the item for several minutes. Take three parts cornstarch and two parts vinegar to make a thin paste and generously apply it to the pre-soaked stain. Gently rub the solution into the stained fabric being careful not to rub outward and increase the discoloration. Allow the garment to dry completely and then machine or hand wash.
Lemon Juice
Add lemon juice to boost detergent
Lemon juice is natural stain remover that works quite well, but when it comes to removing tough ink stains it needs a little help. You can amplify the cleansing power of any neutral cleaning agent detergent (not containing bleach) by adding lemon juice. Make a paste by combining powdered laundry detergent with pure lemon juice. Thoroughly rinse the stained fabric in cold running water until the water runs clear, then apply a thick layer of the mixture over the ink stain. Allow it to set for half an hour and then wash as usual.
