Fraternal twins are non-identical twins born on the same day.
Having twins is an exciting time, but it also comes with a lot of challenges. One challenge for some parents is making sure that each of their twins feels unique and special on their birthday. Parents can choose to hold one birthday party with a theme that both boys enjoy, or they can have two unique parties. Depending on the age, the parents might choose to do things differently every year.
Two Different Parties
Your twins might feel special if they are allowed to have their own parties instead of having to share their party with their twin. This is especially true for older twins. If you are going to have two different parties for your twins, make sure that you let each twin have control over the theme and who is invited.
Unique Cakes
No matter if you have one birthday or split the day into two, consider getting each of your twins their own cake. The cakes do not have to be very big, but instead should be unique and special to each of your twins' personalities. Choose cakes that complement each other --- but only if they also go along with what your twins want. Let each child know that they are loved and special by pointing out that their cake is entirely their own.
Their Own Friends
Let each twin invite their own friends to their birthday party. For parents who have twins with completely different sets of friends, this might make it hard to have one combined birthday. In the case where your twins have different friends, consider allowing them each to have their own birthday party so that the party is not overcrowded.
Themed Parties
If you decide to have one birthday party, especially for younger twins, have a theme that complements the fact that they are twins. For example, have a Noah's Ark-themed party where your twins are dressed up as the same animal and all guests are to arrive dressed as an animal with a pair. You can also consider doing a Thing 1 and Thing 2 party and making the party stand out with a Dr. Seuss theme.
