Make A Spicy Trail Mix

Paprika and red pepper provide a spicy kick to homemade trail mix.

Trail mix is a party food staple, and while it can be bought pre-made, it is easy to make at home. Not only is it simple to make your own trail mix, you can also customize it to your tastes. Serve trail mix in a big bowl with small cups guests can dip into for single servings, or prepare individual-sized portions in small parchment paper cones. Have napkins on hand and plenty of beverages to accompany this spicy treat.

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Spray the inside of the roasting pan with cooking spray.

2. Mix the cereal, pretzels and nuts in the roasting pan.

3. Place the butter in a small, microwave-safe dish. Microwave the butter for 30 seconds, adding 10 seconds at a time until the butter melts.

4. Mix the paprika, red pepper and Worcestershire sauce into the butter. Drizzle the mixture over the cereal mixture, and stir it until it is well coated.

5. Bake the mixture in the oven for 20 minutes, stirring once during that time. The trail mix should be lightly toasted.
