Slow Cook Cornbread Stuffing Or Dressing In A Crock Pot

Cornbread stuffing is a favorite side dish at holiday dinners.

Cornbread stuffing is a popular side dish at Thanksgiving. It is commonly referred to as dressing in Southern states because it's cooked outside of the turkey. In Northern states, where stuffing is typically cooked inside the cavity of the turkey, this delicious bread-based dish is called stuffing. Cornbread stuffing, or dressing, can also be cooked on the stove top or in the microwave. Alternatively, it can be prepared in a crock pot, resulting in a moist stuffing and frees you to focus on other dishes.

Instructions

1. Cornbread lends its flavor to homemade stuffing.

Crumble the baked cornbread and place it on a baking sheet along with the bread. Leave all of the bread on the countertop overnight to dry out.

2. Place the dried, crumbled cornbread into a large mixing bowl. Crumble or shred the slices of bread and add them to the cornbread crumbles.

3. Onion and celery adds flavor to the stuffing.

Add eggs, onion, celery, sage, black pepper, cream of chicken soup and broth. Stir all of the ingredients together with a spoon.

4. Spray the inside of your crock pot with baking spray to prevent the cornbread stuffing from sticking.

5. Spoon the mixed ingredients into the crock pot. Break the butter into small bits and randomly place it over the top of the stuffing.

6. Put the lid on top of the crock pot and set it to "Low." Cook for two hours.
