Enjoy Oat Bran To Lower Cholesterol

Enjoy Oat Bran to Lower Cholesterol

Oat bran is highly recommended to lower cholesterol, but hot oat bran cereal is not the most delicious thing to eat every morning. Regular oatmeal is also good to lower cholesterol, but oat bran works much better. A great way to enjoy this healthy food is in muffin form. Here is an easy, quick recipe for oat bran muffins that are also low in fat and sugar.

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a large bowl mix the dry ingredients: * 2 1/2 cup oat bran

* 2 tsp baking powder

* 1/2 tsp baking SODA

* 3 Tbsp of Splenda's BROWN sugar OR 1/4 cup regular brown sugar

* 1/4 cup shredded coconut

* 1/4 cup chopped walnuts

* 1/4 cup raisins

2. In a small bowl, mix the wet ingredients:1 cup skim milk, 2 Tbsp vegetable oil, 2 egg whites (It could be one whole egg, but 2 egg whites is better to lower cholesterol since one egg yolk has all the cholesterol you should have in a day.)

3. Add the wet ingredients with the dry and mix until moist. Grease muffin pans and fill cups until level with the pan. These muffins crumble when eaten. To make less of a mess, I advise using the mini muffin pans. Smaller muffins means fewer bites which means less crumbles. This recipe makes 24 mini muffins or 12 regular muffins. If making mini muffins, bake 10 min. If you make normal sized muffins, bake 15 min. Either way, bake at 400 degrees F.
