Make A Simple Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Watching the temperature carefully prevents grilled cheese from becoming charred cheese.

The grilled cheese sandwich is classic comfort food, pairing well with soup or served alone. Taking only minutes to make, it's a simple and filling meal. Feel free to experiment by trying different combinations of cheeses and breads to give your old favorite an interesting twist.

Instructions

1. Warm a non-stick frying pan on medium to medium-low heat.

2. Spread the butter or margarine on one side of one slice of bread.

3. Place the bread buttered side down onto the warmed pan.

4. Place the slices of cheese on top of the bread to cover the surface.

5. Spread the butter or margarine on the other slice of bread.

6. Place the second piece of bread on top of bread and cheese in pan, buttered side facing up.

7. Cook the sandwich until the first slice of bread begins to brown. Using a spatula, flip the sandwich over to allow the second slice of bread to brown.

8. Repeat cooking and flipping as necessary, until the bread is toasted a golden color and the cheese is melted.
