Stop Mouth Burn From Hot Peppers

Stop Mouth Burn From Hot Peppers

Some spicy foods and hot peppers make your mouth feel as if it is on fire. Whether it is spicy Mexican food with Chili Peppers or the classic Italian Fra Diavolo, the peppers burn! Don't reach for a glass of water to put this fire out. Water and other beverages will only spread the burn of the active ingredient, capsaicin, around your mouth. To stop the burn there are a few effective remedies.

Instructions

1. Eat dairy products such as cheese, yogurt, milk or ice cream. Dairy products will absorb the chemical that causes the burning feeling in your mouth.

2. Rinse your mouth with a liquid antacid such as Mylanta or Maalox. Liquid antacids will quickly cool the burn from hot peppers and other spices. You can chew an antacid in tablet form, but it will take longer than the liquid to soothe your mouth.

3. Eat a pinch or 2 of salt. Salt will quickly counteract the burn in your mouth from hot spicy peppers. Salt doesn't sound very appetizing, but it works.

4. Chew white bread, semolina bread or plain crackers. These bread based foods will absorb the chemical, capsaicin, that causes the burning feeling in your mouth.
