Bake An Easy Apple Pie With Sugar & Cinnamon Crisps

Cinnamon gives apple pie a warm spicy flavor

Sugar and cinnamon crisps are simple fried sweets made from flour tortillas with sugar and cinnamon. You can make an apple pie using cinnamon and sugar crisps as the crust base, which gives the pie a crunchy, light texture. Since a cinnamon and sugar crisp pie is made using flour tortillas instead of a pie crust, its also a convenient way to make a pie from scratch if you don't have a pie crust at hand.

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Melt butter in the pie dish in the heated oven. This should only take about two minutes.

3. Spread the tortillas out into the pie dish overlapping them to form a complete pie crust. Add an extra four or five tortillas to the bottom layer.

4. Stir together the sugar and the cinnamon in the mixing bowl.

5. Sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon over the tortillas, covering them evenly.

6. Turn the tortillas over so that both sides are saturated with butter.

7. Sprinkle sugar and salt over the other side of the tortillas.

8. Bake the tortillas in the oven for four or five minutes or until they just begin to crisp and turn golden.

9. Remove pie dish and top layer of tortillas from the bottom of the dish.

10. Pour can of apple pie filling into the tortilla lined pie dish and cover filling with the extra tortillas from the bottom of the dish.

11. Bake entire pie in the oven for another four or five minutes or until piping hot and golden brown.
