Make A Bridal Bouquet Of Hydrangeas

Hydrangeas are large flowers suitable for wedding bouquets.

Hydrangeas are large, beautiful flowers that are perfect for summer weddings. Available in a wide variety of colors, such as shades of pink, cream, blue and purple, hydrangeas are great for the bride with a tight wedding budget because, due to their size, fewer stems are needed to create full, lush bouquets. Make your hydrangea bridal bouquet close to your wedding date to prevent the flowers from wilting.

Instructions

1. Purchase, or pick from your garden, six average-sized hydrangeas or three large hydrangeas.

2. Fill a bucket with lukewarm water and place the hydrangeas inside. Allow the flowers to soak overnight.

3. Remove the hydrangeas from the bucket of water. Use florist clippers to remove the leaves from the stems of the hydrangeas, leaving the ones situated close to the blossoms.

4. Form the shape of the bridal bouquet by gathering the stems of the hydrangeas together in your hand so that the blossoms are round in appearance.

5. Secure the stems of the hydrangeas together using florist's tape. Wrap the florist's tape around the stems several times, approximately one inch below the bottom of the flowers, and then tear the tape.

6. Cover the area of the hydrangea stems wrapped in florist's tape with double-sided foam tape. Tear the double-sided foam tape, which will then stick to itself. This allows the ribbon to stick to the hydrangea stems.

7. Attach one end of a wide ribbon to the double-sided foam tape, underneath the hydrangea blossoms. Wrap the ribbon around the stems so that it sticks to the double-sided foam tape. Continue wrapping the ribbon around the hydrangea stems until you can no longer see the double-sided foam tape.

8. Cut the ribbon and fold it underneath so that the ragged edge is not visible. Pin the ribbon in place with pearl-head pins.

9. Trim the stems of the hydrangeas to your desired length using florist's clippers. Place the stems of the bouquet in water to prevent wilting.
