Kenmore elite washer model 11024944300

Kenmore Elite Washer (Model 110.24944300)

This washer is only about 5-6 years old. I couldn't locate the actual model number with Parts Accessories | Shop Find Lawn Garden, Appliance Parts at Sears PartsDirect | SearsPartsDirect.com but I can tell you that according to the manual, the service manual is 4314044, DOGS are 3366877 and Lid Switch is 8054980. I hope this is enough information to give you which product I have. PROBLEM: The washer fills with water but does not agitate. After it fills with water, we hear a loud ticking/grinding sound and the tub does not agitate at all. This is the same scenario when it comes to the rinse/spin cycle. It drains the water but does not spin, only the ticking sound. As you can see I have done SOME search on what maybe wrong, but I can not be for sure of what to change. Am I moving in the right direction by chaning the dogs and lid switch? Or should I be looking into something else. I am on my way to Sears to buy the manual and Dogs, but the lid switch is a special order only. Sears is charging me $75 just come in and take a look at it. $215 to repair it and add one year warranty. I think I can do the job provided I have some direction on where to search for the problem. PLEASE SEND THE CAVALRY. Model # is in back of lid opening. Have to open lid and look in back M # is the top #. You need a drive coupler Sears Part # is 26 110 285753a. I think you will need model # also. I agree- first thing to check is the coupler. Don't buy the agitator dogs just yet. $290 for a coupler job? WOW The 285753A is the heavy duty coupler. It's only a few bucks more than the standard coupler. Don't buy the manual either, there's plenty of free info here: Repair help for dryers, washers, refrigerators, dishwashers, microwaves, icemaker, and so much more. Repair Aid entrance. I agree- it sounds like the coupler. If the lid switch were bad, the motor would not run during the spin cycle. Don't buy anything yet. First of daddyjohn and pugsl you two ARE AMAZING. Just to plug some good points here. I had to drive all the way to Wharton, NJ Sears parts store that had the parts I needed (45 min) away and I was keeping track of this post. When I got there, I threw out all the numbers at the manager, model number part numbers and so on. He then asked me what the problem was, and he said the same thing as both of you, Motor Coupling. The service manual wasn't in stock, so instead he told me step by step of what to do. I think he liked the fact that I was willing to spend for the service manual. With a little help from my brother inlaw, we were able to change the motor coupling. Just a few things I want to point out. 1) The manufacturer has replaced part number 285753 with this item, part number 285753A. NEW! Metal sleeves for added strength. Drive motor to transmission coupling, replaces all previous styles and versions. 2) I use large socket extension and tap coupler with hammer till flush with shaft. I bought the dogs anyway. I will order the service manual and the rope for the snowblower. MACHINE is up and RUNNING. Small problem, you know that top part (console) that you pop out with a scredriver so you are able to tilt the cabin forward. I can't pop it back in. There is some clips, but no sure where and how they go. Good job- yeah the 285753A ia the HD coupling. Do you have the cover down in the slots both front and rear? The clips go in the hloes. Check the web link, I'm pretty sure h has a picture there. What did the coupler cost you? put the rear plastic hooks in first than pop in the front. have to tilt to rear to put rear in. Daddy have you had problems getting back to post after your message. I have also. Found out to hit submit than get blank scren I use back button on browser and go back to message. Leave that post, Your answer will be there. I have a similar problem -- the washer periodically stops. Banging the lid gets it going again. I suspect it is a bad switch or an alignment problem. Can anyone tell me remove the control panel to access the switch? It is a model 24942301. Nogoodwith tools Tighten the lid hinge screws expectantly the ones on left side. lid switch is under that hinge. Pugsl, Wow, they were loose. Thanks. Unfortunately the switch is loose also. I can feel it rattling around under the top deck. I think the screw that holds the switch down came loose. It looks like I need to get the panel off to get the switch back into place. pugsl, I reatttached the lid-switch -- under-handed backwards, using a mirror. The washer seems to be working OK. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.
