Make Tender Crust In A Bread Machine

Bread machines make baking homemade bread easy, but many people do not like the crunchy crust that often results from many bread-machine recipes. You can have a tender crust on any bread from a bread machine, but it will take a little effort. Timing is essential.

Instructions

1. Make the bread. Add the ingredients into the pan of the bread maker according to the recipe. Place the pan into the bread machine and close the lid. Set the bread machine on the proper setting for your particular bread.

2. Watch your bread machine go through the dough kneading, resting and rising cycles. After the rising cycle is complete (at the beginning of the bake cycle), quickly lift the lid.

3. Brush milk on the top of the bread with the pastry brush. If you do not have a pastry brush, spoon the milk over the top of the loaf. Either way, be sure to cover the bread's entire top surface.

4. Close the lid and let the bread machine complete the bake cycle. When it is done, let the bread cool in the pan for 15 minutes before moving it to a cooling rack. Let the bread cool completely before slicing it.
