Make Steamed Pot Stickers At Home

Steamed pot stickers are a tasty appetizer filled with pork and vegetables.

Pot stickers are a delicious Asian dish that has become very popular among other cultures as well. Though pot stickers are traditionally made with pork, you can also make vegetarian pot stickers with tofu, or use ground chicken. Also add or substitute any other vegetables that you may enjoy. You may also fry dumplings in oil to brown the sides and make them slightly crispy.

Instructions

1. Brown the ground pork over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain the meat and allow it too cool.

2. Finely chop the chestnuts, green onion and fresh ginger. Combine these ingredients with the ground pork, coleslaw mix, salt, sugar, and sesame oil in a bowl. Stir the ingredients to coat them thoroughly, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place the bowl in the refrigerator. Allow the mixture to marinate overnight, or at least six to eight hours.

3. Lay a wonton wrapper on a flat surface. Spoon one tablespoon of the pork and veggie mixture into the center of the wonton wrapper, draining excess liquid by pressing the spoon against the side of the bowl.

4. Fold the wonton wrapper in half evenly, forming a half moon shape. Dip a fork in water, and then press the fork along the edge of the wrapper to seal the edge of the pot sticker. Fill all of the wrappers with the pork and vegetable mixture. Spray each side of the pot sticker with non-stick cooking spray.

5. Fill the bottom of a stock pot with a few inches of water and insert a steaming basket. Be sure that the water does not reach the bottom of the basket. Heat the water to boiling.

6. Place the pot stickers in the bottom of the steaming basket in one layer and steam them for 10 minutes, or until the shell is soft.
