Make A Clipin Bang

Bangs are a fun way to change your hairstyle.

Cutting bangs into your hair can be a long-term commitment that can take months to grow out. For those who want to make temporary change, clip-in bangs are a great alternative. You can purchase pre-made clip-in bangs at a beauty supply store, but if you want to save some money or if you want a bang that is a little more custom made, you can make your own with just a few supplies.

Instructions

1. Measure your head. Use measuring tape to measure your forehead from the outer corner of one eye to the outer corner of the other, adjusting either way for bangs that are wider or bangs that are thinner, depending on the width of bang that you prefer.

2. Lay the hair extensions, which can be purchased at a beauty supply store, flat on a work surface and measure out the width of bang that you got from measuring your head. Cut the hair extension at your measurement. Lay out the remaining extensions and cut another equal width of hair. You now have two hair extensions cut to the width of the measurement that you made on your forehead. If you want thick bangs, cut a third width of hair.

3. Glue the end of each width of extension using wig glue or super glue to prevent the extensions from fraying.

4. Stack the extension strips on top of each other and comb them out thoroughly. Glue the extensions together at the top, placing the glue on the cloth or plastic strips that hold the extensions together. Press and hold the extensions together until the glue dries.

5. Glue toupee clips on to the extension. You can purchase toupee clips at any beauty supply store. Make sure that the rubber backing of the toupee clips is facing away from the hair extension and curves toward you when in the closed position. Place a dab of glue on the toupee clip and press it to the top cloth or plastic strip on the extensions, starting at one side of the strip. Press the clip down for a few minutes until the hair dries.

6. Repeat this process for the remaining width of extension, placing clips about an inch apart.

7. Cut the bangs to your desired length by clipping them into place in your hair and measuring the length of bang that you desire. Remove the bangs and lay them flat on your work surface. Cut the bangs slightly longer than you measured to allow room for corrections. Continue trimming the bangs until you have achieved the desired length and shape.
