Make Rumspiced Cider

Whether you're planning a quiet evening at home in front of the fire or a huge holiday get together with friends or family, a steaming cup of rum-spiced cider will be a huge success. Mix up a kid-friendly version for the younger set.

Instructions

Hot Rum Cider

1. Mix the apple cider, brown sugar, two cinnamon sticks, allspice and cloves in a large saucepan over medium-low heat.

2. Cover the saucepan loosely and bring the mixture slowly to a boil, stirring occasionally. If any apple scum forms on the surface, skim it off with a metal spoon.

3. While the mixture is heating, divide the rum among eight large mugs. Put about 1/2 tbsp. of butter and one cinnamon stick in each mug.

4. Strain the rum-spiced cider into the mugs and serve. Makes 8 servings.

6. Combine the spice bag with rum, apple juice and brown sugar in a crock pot.

7. Cover crock pot and cook on low heat for 3 to 4 hours.

8. Remove the spice bag and ladle the piced rum cider into cups with about 1/2 tsp. of butter on top of each serving. Makes approximately 8 cups.
