Deepfry Oreos

Enjoy fair food year-round by making deep-fried Oreo's at home.

Each year county fairs arrive around the country with rides, carnival-style games and food you can't get anywhere else. Hot dogs, popcorn, corn on the cob and a variety of sweet treats are typical of a county fair. If fried Oreo cookies are your personal favorite, you don't have to wait until the county fair comes back around in your area to enjoy them.

Instructions

1. Freeze the Oreo cookies for about an hour; this will keep them from crumbling or melting during the frying process.

2. Choose which cooking oil you would like to use to fry your Oreo cookies. You may use vegetable oil as many do for deep-frying, but you can also use peanut or almond oil for a different type of flavor. Pour the chosen oil into your deep fryer, turn it on, and let it heat to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

3. Combine the pancake mix, 1 cup of milk, one large egg and 2 tbsp. of oil in a large bowl, mixing well until it turns into a batter consistency.

4. Coat the Oreo cookies one at a time in the batter mix, being sure the cookies are completely covered in batter. Drop the coated cookies into the deep fryer, being extra careful not to burn yourself. Flip the cookies after one minute and fry them for an additional minute.

5. Remove the cookies from the deep fryer once they are golden brown, and sprinkle with powdered sugar. They are ready to eat once they cool down long enough to hold comfortably in your hand.
