Healthy Banana Snacks For Kids

It is important to introduce your kids to healthy eating habits, not only to provide them with wholesome, nutritional foods to help them grow and develop, but also to encourage them to maintain and keep healthy eating habits later on in life. So Instead of reaching for frozen and processed foods, try these different snacks made with bananas when your kids want something to eat. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Banana and Peanut Butter

This snack is quick and easy to make in small and large quantities, and your kids are sure to love it. Peel and slice a banana in half, then slice each half longways, for a total of four banana slices. Spread each slice with peanut butter (smooth or crunchy--whatever your kids prefer).

Frozen Banana Treats

Slice a whole banana into eight chunks, then place the chunks in the freezer until they are firm (be sure to keep them separated so they do not freeze together). Then take the banana chunks out of the freezer, roll each chunk in honey and then in your topping of choice (such as crushed nuts, granola, coconut flakes, crushed cereal) and then return to freezer. Once the chunks are frozen solid, you can move them to plastic bags to take up less space.

For a healthier variation, substitute yogurt for the honey.

Banana Smoothies

Combine one banana, 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt, 1 tbsp. honey and 1 cup crushed ice in a blender and blend until the consistency is creamy. You can use different flavors of yogurt as desired, as well as more honey for a sweeter drink. Another variation is to add additional kinds of fruit, like strawberries. Makes one serving.
