Make Country Italian Bread With A Bread Machine

Country Italian bread, or rustic bread, has a crunchy crust perfect for pairing with fine olive oils and soft cheeses. Making the bread in a bread machine eliminates the hassle of blending the ingredients by hand, kneading the dough and waiting for the dough to rise. Always consult the manual for the bread machine before using as usage varies by model and brand.








Instructions


1. Combine all of the ingredients for the bread in the pan of the bread machine. Consult the manual to see if the order of the ingredients matters.








2. Place the pan in the bread machine and set the machine to the dough cycle.


3. Remove the pan when the machine indicates it's ready. Place the dough on a floured counter. Put a large bowl over the top of the dough and allow it to sit for 10 minutes.


4. Separate the dough into two sections and form each into a loaf with a flattened top. Place the loaves onto a lightly floured cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes, or until the loaves sound hollow when tapped.
