Fill a basket with wine and items such as cheese and crackers.
Send a wine gift basket to your friend or loved one for a special occasion or as a surprise gift. If you purchase a gift basket online or through a mail-order company, they will do all of the packaging and shipping for you. However if you want to send a homemade gift basket, you will need to know both prepare and package the basket. Fill the basket with several types of wine or one bottle of wine with complimentary snacks and treats.
Instructions
1. Decide on the wine to be included in the basket, as well as other items, such as a wine glass, cheese and crackers or gourmet chocolate.
2. Select a basket large enough to fit your items as well as a filler. Fillers can be practical, such as a linen napkin, or decorative, such as crumpled tissue paper or raffia.
3. Place the liner in the basket. Fill the basket with the filler items, larger items in back and smaller items in front.
4. Cover the basket with a gift-basket wrap, and tie with a ribbon.
5. Prepare your shipping box by first placing the wine basket upright in the box and then filling the box with cushioning material, such as foam peanuts or crumpled newspaper. Bring the box to the shipping center or post office to have it sent.
