Rice & Bean Diet

Rice and beans have long been a staple on dinner tables around the world.

The rice and beans diet, which was originally an inspiration of Dave Ramsey (of the Financial Peace University) to save money and eat more economically, has also gained popularity for its health benefits. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Features

The rice and beans diet, although it can certainly be adopted literally, was likely introduced as a way to encourage people to live simpler lives until they are out of debt. This diet involves replacing more costly foods with rice and beans at every meal.

Advantage

Aside from the low-fat, protein-rich qualities of a rice and bean diet, these foods are quite inexpensive and can therefore become low-cost staple foods for households everywhere.

Disadvantage

Following a strict rice-and-beans-only diet can rob individuals of important vitamins, minerals and nutrients. Therefore, it may be best to integrate low-fat meats, fruits and vegetables to achieve a well-balanced diet.
