Make Spiders Out Of Food

Make spiders out of food to add edible decoration to your party. Create them with chocolate candies and food coloring. Sit them on top of cupcakes or cakes with spider web designs in the frosting. Set them on a holiday platter along with other creepy crawlers. Create large spiders or small ones and set them among cookies on a tray or around the table to scare your party guests.

Instructions

1. Cut a Tootsie Roll candy in two, with one piece slightly larger than the other.

2. Place the pieces on a plate and microwave for 5 seconds to soften.

3. Roll the large, softened piece in your hands to form an oval for the spider's body.

4. Roll the smaller, softened piece in your hands to form a ball.

5. Place the ball against one of the narrow ends of the oval to form the spider.

6. Cut a Tootsie Roll into eight pieces and microwave for 5 seconds to soften.

7. Rub the pieces between your fingers, while still warm, into long legs. Press the first set of legs onto the body where it meets the head, turning the legs to face the head. Place the second pair of legs next to the first, pointing them straight out to the side. Place the third set of legs next to the second, turning toward the back end of the spider. Bend each piece about 1/3 of the length from the body to create arched spider legs.

8. Draw two beady eyes with red gel food coloring on the front of the head, near the top of the ball.
