Make Bubble Gum Ice Cream

You may think that bubble gum ice cream is a strange concoction, or you may see it as a delightful treat if you're a candy lover. Many ice cream brands carry the bubble gum flavor, and you can learn to make it at home by following these instructions.

Instructions

1. Gather 10 or more pieces of your favorite bubble gum and set them aside. In a saucepan, mix one or two cups of heavy cream plus one cup of milk.

2. Bring the milk and cream mixture to a boil; then remove the saucepan from the stove's heat. Add the bubble gum to the mixture and let it stand in the saucepan for 10 minutes. This allows the milk and cream to absorb the bubble gum's flavor.

3. Drain the ingredients through a colander and into a medium-sized bowl. Strain out and discard all the pieces of bubble gum.

4. Combine five egg yolks with two-thirds cup of sugar in another medium bowl and mix until fluffy. Beat the egg and sugar combination into the flavored milk and cream mixture.

5. Reheat the saucepan on the stove until the mixture reaches 100 degrees F or until it becomes thick. Stir the ingredients constantly to keep them from boiling or you will get custard instead of ice cream.

6. Cool the mixture in the refrigerator. Pour the mixture into the ice cream maker and let it stir for about 25 minutes or until it thickens.

7. Scoop out the ice cream and store it in a container. Freeze for up to two hours to ensure firmness. Use red food coloring or pink bubble gum-flavored syrup if you want your ice cream to be pink instead of vanilla yellow. You can also use these options if you want to enhance the flavor.
