Make Easy Stovetop Mac N Cheese

Make macaroni and cheese quickly from scratch.

A favorite meal for kids, macaroni and cheese doesn't have to come from a box. Instead, make mac and cheese from scratch. This easy recipe doesn't take longer than the boxed kind and it tastes better because it uses real cheese instead of processed power.

Instructions

1. Add 3 cups macaroni or other pasta to a large pot of boiling water. Cook until tender. This will take around 10 to 15 minutes.

2. Drain the macaroni and pour it back into the pot. Add the butter, milk and salt and mix. Use whatever type of cheese you like or have on hand. Shredded cheeses melt quickly and are great to use. You can even mix two or more types together. Experiment with different types if you like. Add the cheese to your taste. Some people like cheesier mac and cheese than others, so how much you add is up to you.

3. Stir the mixture together over the warm stove eye, with the stove off if you have an electric stove. Otherwise, use a very low flame. When the butter and cheese are melted, you're done.
