Make Oatmeal Bread

Complete the perfect meal with warm, crusty oatmeal bread to pass at the table. Put away the bread maker and finish a loaf yourself in less time than a machine can make it. Bite into a hearty piece of oatmeal bread and erase the bland, store-bought bread from your memory. Make the best oatmeal bread by following these easy steps.

Instructions

1. Mix the boiling water, oats, margarine, honey and salt in a large glass bowl. Mixture should cool slightly.

2. Stir warm water, yeast packet and sugar together until yeast is dissolved. Mixture should start to bubble in about 10 minutes.

3. Blend the yeast mixture into the warm oats mixture. Add the egg, 1 1/2 cups flour and oat bran to the mixture also. Beat the remaining 1/2 cup flour into the dough with an electric mixture on low for two minutes or until flour is completely blended in.

4. Spray a 9 by 5 inch pan with non-stick cooking spray and then add the dough to the pan. Cover pan with plastic wrap and place in warm area so dough can rise. Dough should double in size in about 45 minutes.

5. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

6. Bake bread for one hour.

7. Cool bread on a wire rack. Cut bread into slices when crust is warm, not hot, to the touch.
