Pop Popcorn In An Electric Popper

Popcorn is a nutritious snack if not laden down with oil or butter.

Most modern-day electric popcorn poppers use hot air to pop the corn kernels. Some models include a dasher to stir the kernels, and many have non-stick interior surfaces. Unlike microwave popcorn, electric popcorn poppers allow the user to control how much fat, salt and other ingredients are in the finished product. How much popcorn you can pop at a time will depend on the capacity of the model and the brand of the popper.

Instructions

1. Fill the measuring scoop of your popper with popcorn kernels. If your machine doesn't have a scoop, start with 1/4 cup of kernels, as this amount will work with most machines.

2. Place the kernels in the machine, closing the lid.

3. Turn on the electric popcorn popper. Within a minute, the kernels should begin to pop.

4. Allow the machine to pop the corn until the kernels are fully popped. A good indication that the majority of the kernels are popped is when you only hear a pop approximately every 5 seconds.

5. Turn off the electric popper, and remove the lid. Dump the contents of the popper into a large bowl. Season as desired.
