Make A Pasta Bread Bowl

You can purchase premade pizza dough or make it from scratch for the bread bowl.

If you're a fan of warm, thick breads and also love pasta, bread bowl pasta is a must-have indulgent dinner. These warm pasta creations are made from pizza dough and filled with hot pastas topped with cheese. You can buy these from some pizza chains, but the dish is easy to make yourself with ready-made pizza dough. Plus, you can choose which seasonings and flavors to include in the pasta sauce. You can put any kind of pasta noodles in the bread bowl, but thicker noodles, such as penne, work best.

Instructions

1. Roll a quarter of the pizza dough into a ball. Cover it with a kitchen towel, and allow it to rise and double in size. This should take about an hour. Place the unused pizza dough back in the refrigerator.

2. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.

3. Cook the pasta as usual by boiling it in water until it is al dente. Mix with a can of marinara sauce. Season and add any meat as desired.

4. Lightly flour the pizza dough ball. Push your fist down into the center of the dough to form a hole. Stretch the dough around the hole so you form a bowl with a wide hole. The edge of the bowl should be about 3/4 to 1 inch thick.

5. Brush the edges of the pizza dough bowl with melted butter.

6. Ladle the pasta mix generously into the bread bowl. Pile the pasta high so it is almost overflowing the edge. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.

7. Place the pasta bowl on a cookie sheet, and pop it in the oven. Allow it to bake for roughly 10 to 12 minutes. The pasta bowl is ready when the cheese is brown and melted and the bowl is lightly browned. Serve hot.
