Fix An Undersalted Potato Salad

Bacon can be added to potato salad for added flavor.

Potato salad, commonly served in the summer months and during picnic celebrations, is often served cold, and is typically made from mayonnaise, mustard, eggs, potatoes and seasoning. When the dish is over-seasoned, there are a few ways to alter the recipe to even out the taste -- for example, you can add dry potato slices to absorb the excess salt. However, when the salad is under-salted, simply add more salt or naturally salty ingredients.

Instructions

1. Measure 1/2 tsp. salt and add it to the potato salad. Stir the potato salad well to combine the salt with the dish.

2. Taste the potato salad with a separate spoon and analyze the flavor of the dish. Add more salt and stir it in until the desired taste is achieved.

3. Fry bacon in a pan until crispy. Break it up into small pieces and add to the potato salad for a naturally salty addition. This option transforms the salad texture by adding a crunchy element.

4. Dice crunchy dill pickles and corned beef to add to the potato salad for a natural salt addition. This third method results in an Irish-inspired potato salad.
