Make Wet And Dry Cappuccinos

Coffee lover's adore their cup of joe and generally know exactly how they want it. But getting your barista to make the perfect cup can be quite difficult. If you would like to learn to make your own perfect cup of cappuccino at home and forget the fuss, begin by first determining how wet or how dry you like your coffee, perfecting the process with your home espresso machine.

Instructions

1. Brew up your espresso just the way you like it so that your espresso machine can build up steam for frothing your milk. Pour your espresso into your cup, adding any extras such as sugar, chocolate or flavor now, before you add your milk.

2. Measure your milk. As a general rule, cappuccino is made with one part espresso to two parts milk. However, you can alter your personal recipe in any way you like. Finally, while heavy milk, such as cream or whole milk, froths much faster, there is no reason why you can't use skim, low fat or even soy milk if you choose.

3. Place your cup of milk under the steam spout and turn on the steam. Make sure that you keep the cup moving around the wand to avoid burning the milk. Keep the wand near the surface of the milk to help build up froth.

4. Stop frothing when your milk is one part froth to two parts milk or less to create a wet cappuccino, or cappuccino chiaro. Pour your milk into your espresso, scoop on the froth and enjoy.

5. Continue frothing the milk until it is half froth and half milk to create the standard American cup of cappuccino, so that your final product will be equal parts espresso, milk and froth.

6. Keep on going until the milk is almost complete frothed for an authentic Italian dry cappuccino, or cappuccino scuro. Scoop on the froth and enjoy your hot, home-made cup of joe.
