Diy Bottle Opener

It's a problem many of us run into when you drink any bottled beverage with a capped top. You don't have a bottle opener and short of breaking the top off the bottle you need a solution fast. A fast and easy remedy would be to make your own bottle opener. DIYHappy.com says you can with a piece of paper and, according to the BoldLentil, you can also make one with a piece of wood.

Tools

Paper: One 8 ½ x 11 inch sheet of heavy gauge paper, and your hands.

Wood: One wooden stick/dowel about "6 inches long by 1/2 inch by 3/4 inch. The BoldLentil recommends using one screw but two 3/4 inch screws can make this bottle opener easier to use, and a screwdriver (an electric one works best because you have to start the holes in fresh wood).

Construction

Paper: Take the sheet of paper, fold the paper until you can't fold it anymore. It doesn't matter how many folds you do or what the end result looks like.

Wood: Place the two 1 ¼ inches apart on the side of the wooden handle. You can sand and decorate this bottle opener any way you want.

Application

Paper: Once you have the paper folded, take the edge of the paper and push it against the teeth on the bottle cap. With a little bit of pressure, the cap will come off.

Wood: Position the bottle cap between the two nails. One screw will fit under the teeth on the bottle and the other provide the necessary resistance to release the cap.

Ease of Use

Paper: This bottle open is not actually as easy to use as DIYHappy.com would lead you to believe because it is awkward and does not always fit under the teeth on the bottle cap. Use this bottle opener when there is no other alternative available.

Wood: This bottle opener is relatively simple to use and is large enough that it won't easily disappear.
