Start A Candy Shop

Candy has long been a favorite treat of children and adults alike. Despite the fact that candy is loaded with sugar and not the healthiest thing to eat, that doesn’t stop people from indulging. If you’re a dessert chef, or merely an individual with a passion for candy, opening up your own candy store is a great way to explore your creativity and make some money. You can open up your own candy store for less than $5,000.

Instructions

1. Decide what kind of candy store you want to have. There are a couple of different types of candy stores. You can either have a chocolate store or a full range candy store. A chocolate store’s specialty is, obviously, chocolate while a full range candy store has anything and everything imaginable. What you decide to carry is completely up to you.

2. Find a physical location. While you might consider running your candy store out of your home, it’s a much better idea to have a different physical location. You can turn this location into your production place and store or you can just use it as a store and complete production elsewhere. Try to find an area that has a lot of traffic. Strip malls are a great place to set up your shop.

3. Purchase supplies. Once you’ve got a location, it’s time to purchase all of your supplies. These supplies include ingredients needed to make candy such as pots, pans and molds and packaging products. This step will be one of the most expensive ones.

4. Advertise your store. In order to generate business, it’s important to advertise. Go out into the community with flyers and samples and pass them out to businesses or passersby. It is essential that you have samples of your candy. This will give your potential customers an idea of how great your product is.

5. Create gift ideas. Holidays and birthdays are significant candy selling days. Create gift baskets designed for specific holidays such as Valentine’s Day or Easter. Many clients purchase baskets for loved ones and other businesses.

6. Set up an on-line store. Build a website that shows your candy along with the prices. Your candy should look as delectable as possible so use different displays in your photos.
