Make Fun Brunch Recipes

If it is your turn to host the family brunch, and you are lost on what to prepare, choose dishes that are easy to make and for guests to handle. You should provide your guests with both savory and sweet options, as well as some fun drinks and even a coffee or hot chocolate bar.

Instructions

1. Provide your guests with the fixings to make fruity cocktails, such as mimosas or Bellinis. To prepare a mimosa, fill a champagne flute with champagne and top it with 2 ounces of orange juice. To make a Bellini, add 1 ounce of white peach puree to each flute, then fill the glass with champagne. You may decorate the flutes with peach slices for garnish.

2. Prepare several quiches or egg dishes. A basic recipe uses a deep dish pie crust, 4 eggs, 1 cup of half and half and 2 cups of cheese, usually a mixture of cheddar and Monterrey jack, along with a few dashes of preferred spices, such as pepper, salt and garlic. It's often best to have a few vegetarian and a few meat add-ins. For the vegetarian, you could supplement it with one 10-ounce package of frozen spinach that is drained and thawed, and 1 cup of mushrooms for a very tasty combination. Layer the cheeses in the pie plate. Mix the vegetables with the egg mixture and pour it into the pie plate. Another delicious combination is to add 1 cup browned turkey sausage and 1/4 cup chopped green onions to your basic recipe. In this case, add the meat mixture and cheeses to the pie plate first before pouring the egg mixture on top. Cook your quiches at 350 degrees F for 45-55 minutes and let them sit for 10 minutes before serving.

3. Have a small baked ham cooked and ready to serve. Some guests may like some ham with their eggs, while others may prefer a sandwich, so lay out some quality breads, deli cheeses and sandwich condiments as well.

4. Make a sweet dish such as cinnamon raisin French toast. This is fairly easy to prepare, as it uses the main staples in your house, such as a loaf of cinnamon swirl raisin bread, 3 eggs, 1/2 cup of milk, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon. Whisk all the ingredients minus the bread together in a medium bowl and start your griddle. Grease it well with oil, and test it to sell if it is well heated. Dip each piece of bread in the mixture and place it on the griddle; depending on your griddle, you should be able to cook four slices at a time. Cook them over medium heat, and each slice should be nicely browned on each side. The recipe can be doubled if needed.

5. Prepare a platter of fresh in-season fruit, such as berries, melons and grapes. Slice and arrange them on a pretty glass platter, with bowls of caramel dip and yogurt for dipping. You may also want to include some granola in case your guests want to make a parfait.
