Make A Cream Cheese Chutney Spread

Mango chutney goes well with cream cheese

Cream cheese and crackers pair well together, but a twist on that classic may make for a better snack. A tangy chutney spread will dress up a typical cream cheese appetizer and give it a more elegant touch. The original recipe calls for mango chutney added over the top of a block of cream cheese. This variation calls for mashing the cheese (or using soft cream cheese) for a smoother spread that is more appetizing and blends the flavors better. You can also add green onion to the spread if you enjoy the taste of onion. This recipe makes 12 servings.

Instructions

1. Add the cream cheese to the mixing bowl.

2. Mash the cream cheese with a spoon until creamy; it should have the consistency of softened butter.

3. Add the mango chutney, which gives this spread its tangy-sweet flavor.

4. Sprinkle the bacon bits and green onions into the bowl, and mix thoroughly until blended.

5. Spoon the spread into a bowl, and serve with crackers. Garnish with a bit of coarse salt on top.
