Food Fun With Pretzels

Pretzels are a fun food to make for any occasion. Available as pretzel sticks, rings, waffle shapes, and soft pretzels this food item can be dipped and decorated for different holidays or simply when you are craving a yummy treat. Though many people find plain pretzels appetizing, many more will enjoy pretzels transformed into fun and tasty treat combinations with toppings and coatings.

Holiday Pretzels

Pretzels dipped or topped with chocolate make perfect treats and delicious gifts. Place a single layer of pretzel snacks on a wax paper lined cookie sheet. Preheat an oven to 170 degrees Fahrenheit and place a bite-size chocolate bar or treat on top of the pretzel. Place the cookie sheet in the over for approximately five minutes, long enough to melt the chocolate piece onto the pretzel. Remove the cookie sheet from the oven and quickly press a candy coated chocolate piece into the center of the melted chocolate candy. Allow the treats to cool for a few minutes before immediately placing the treats in the fridge to further cool for 10 minutes. Place the cooled treats in a transparent bag and tie with a plastic ribbon.

Sprinkled Pretzels

Chocolate and sprinkle covered pretzels are an irresistible and fun food to make and eat. To make this treat you will need a 12-ounce bag of chocolate chips, both white and regular chocolate, large pretzel sticks and decorative sprinkles. Melt the chocolate pieces in separate microwavable bowls until softened. Remove the bowls and mix the chips to create a thick chocolate paste. Dip the pretzels into one of the bowls of melted chocolate; use a spoon to cover the pretzel pieces as desired. Allow excess chocolate to drip off and hold the pretzels over wax paper while you cover the still soft chocolate with sprinkles.

Caramel Chocolate Pretzels

Caramel and chocolate are a delicious treat alone or together, and especially when used together to cover a pretzel. To double dip your pretzels and make this treat you will need to dip your pretzel pieces with caramel first. Melt caramel pieces according to package directions and dip your pretzels. Allow the caramel coated pretzels to cool and harden for a while in the fridge, then dip and cover with melted chocolate. Allow the double-coated pretzels to cool on a wax paper sheet for a few minutes before serving.
