Use Almond Meal In Yeasted Bread

Almond meal contains beneficial nutrients such as calcium, phosphorus, vitamin E and folic acid.

Almond meal is a type of flour made from grounding almonds down into a powder. It comes in two types, normal almond meal and blanched almond meal, which is made by grounding down almonds and their skin into a powder. Almond meal is typically used as a healthy alternative to flour, and is often used in gluten free recipes. Almonds are very nutritious, being low in sugars and high in protein.

Instructions

1. Pour the almond meal into a large bowl, and add the butter.

2. Mix well, and add the dried yeast into the left side of the bowl. Mix thoroughly.

3. Add the salt into the right side of the bowl, and stir.

4. Add 175ml of water to the mixture, and begin to shape the ingredients into dough using your hands.

5. Continue to add the water as necessary until there is no flour left around the bowl, and you have a soft dough that is not sticky or wet.

6. Pour a small amount of oil onto a surface to grease it.

7. Place the dough on the side, and flatten slightly using your hands.

8. Fold a corner of the dough into the middle, turn the dough, and repeat. This should knead the dough and evenly cover it in oil.

9. Knead the dough by pushing the dough outwards, away from you, and then folding it back into the center. Repeat this until the dough is firm and smooth. It should easily stretch, and not stick to your hands. If it does, put a small amount of flour on your hands.

10. Oil the bowl you made the dough in, and put the dough back in.

11. Cover with a moist towel, and leave the bowl in a room temperature room for around one hour to let the dough proof.

12. Lightly flour a surface.

13. Place the dough on the floured surface and knead for a minute to remove any air.

14. Shape the dough into the loaf style you want. Traditional bread shapes include rectangles and round circles.

15. Put your loaf onto a baking tray, and cover with the moist towel again.

16. Leave for approximately one hour, until the loaf has doubled in size.

17.Preheat an oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

18. Sprinkle the bread with a light layer of flour, and rub in. This will form the crust.

19. Put the loaf in the oven for around 30 minutes, until the loaf has gone golden brown and sounds hollow.
