Bake Chicken Wings Instead Of Deep Frying

Baked chicken wings can be just as delicious as traditional deep-fried ones.

Traditional chicken wings are a staple at any football party. The tasty and versatile appetizer can be dressed with anything from the classic spicy buffalo sauce to a less-traditional Asian sauce. While great for the tastebuds, chicken wings, typically deep-fried, can be deadly for the waistline. Luckily, there is a foolproof method for making chicken wings without the grease, while maintaining a crispy, delicious texture.

Instructions

Baking Chicken Wings

1. Preheat an oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with foil, and coat the foil liberally with non-stick cooking spray.

2. Trim tips from chicken wings. Pat the wings dry with a paper towel.

3. Mix about 1/2 cup flour with salt and pepper in a reclosable plastic bag. Using a basting brush, baste the wings lightly with vegetable oil, and then place in the bag. Close the bag and shake it until the wings are coated in flour.

4. Open the bag, and, using tongs, place the wings on the baking sheet. Bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 40 minutes, turning the wings after 20 minutes. The result is crispy, juicy wings, just like traditional deep-fried chicken wings.

5. Toss the wings in melter butter mixed with your favorite hot sauce, or, for a change of pace, in your favorite barbecue or teriyaki sauce.
