Many people rely on the delicious coffee drinks at Starbucks and other coffee shops to get their morning caffeine fix. Although black coffee may contain very few calories, other coffee drinks have considerably more and can pose a problem for dieters. To combat this issue, you can calculate the number of calories in your coffee drinks.
Instructions
1. Find out the basic number of calories in coffee drinks. Most establishments prepare their coffee drinks the same way and leave the add-ins to you. A 12-ounce cappuccino contains about 100 calories. A small 12-ounce latte contains about 175, while a mocha coffee drink of the same size contains about 200 to 250 calories.
2. Adjust the number of calories based on the size drink you order. For example, if you get a 20-ounce cappuccino, you'll need to add 1/3 more of the calories to the 16-ounce size.
3. Count the calories of any flavorings you request in your coffee drink. For each pump of syrup, like caramel, you add another 20 calories to your coffee drink.
4. Consider any additional sweeteners and milk you add to your coffee. Although your coffee drink may start out as low calorie, adding a half cup of whole milk and three sugars will raise the calorie count considerably.
