No matter how careful you are when you eat, the occasional stain is bound to happen. Oil salad dressings are tasty, but they can leave stubborn stains on your clothes. Don't let an oily salad dressing stain ruin your favorite shirt, dress or pair of pants. Learn get rid of an oil stain yourself instead of running to the dry cleaners for an expensive stain-removing treatment.
Instructions
1. Blot the oil stain with a paper towel. Absorb all excess oil from the clothing item to prevent the oil from spreading and making the stain larger.
2. Dust talcum powder over stain and wait 20 minutes. The talcum powder helps to absorb and remove oil from fabric.
3. Pretreat the stain with a heavy-duty liquid detergent or petroleum-based solvent spray. Completely coat the stain with pretreatment and allow to sit for 10 to 20 minutes, according to the instructions on the product's label.
4. Wash stained clothing in a washing machine with heavy-duty detergent and hot water. Use the hottest water possible that is safe for the fabric type.
5. Repeat pretreatment and machine wash if stain remains.
