Serve Pinot Grigio

Pinot grigio is a crisp white wine that is high in acidity and low in tannins. This perfect summer wine is a popular choice for dinner parties or an intimate evening at home. To bring out the flavor and aroma of this wine (and impress your guests) learn serve pinot grigio by following a few simple guidelines.

Instructions

1. Serve pinot grigio when it is young. Unlike some red wines, pinot grigio does not get better with age and should be served within a year or two from the day it was made.

2. Chill pinot grigio. The flavor and aroma of pinot grigio are at their peak when served at around 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Place a bottle of pinot grigio in the refrigerator for a little under three hours, the freezer for 20 minutes or in a bucket of ice water for 10 minutes before serving.

3. Pair pinot grigio with foods that complement its flavor. Pinot grigio goes best with seafood, chicken and pasta dishes with white sauce, or serve it with a mild cheese like Gruyere, Humboldt or mozzarella.

Avoid serving pinot grigio with acidic foods such as tomato sauces, red meats and citrus fruits.
