Stir Fry White Sauce

Toss stir fry with white sauce after it is cooked.

Stir fry is cooked over high heat and stirred constantly to prevent its ingredients from burning. While stir fry commonly uses soy sauce, you can use a homemade white sauce instead. Stir fry white sauce is a creamy mixture that lightly coats all of the vegetables and meat in the dish. Creamy stir fry works well as a light side dish or as a filling meal when served over a bed of rice or noodles.

Instructions

1. Heat 1 tbsp. heavy cream, 1 tbsp. plain yogurt and 1 tsp. butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk the sauce mixture consistently until the butter melts completely. If you do not have heavy cream on hand, substitute with an extra 1 tbsp. of yogurt instead.

2. Bring the sauce mixture to a simmer and continue to whisk until it begins to thicken. Whisk quickly to prevent the sauce from burning.

3. Add 1 tsp. white pepper powder and 1 tsp. thyme to the sauce mixture and remove from heat. Continue to whisk for an additional minute to combine the seasonings.

4. Toss the sauce with 4 cups of stir fry vegetables.
