The motherboard is the brain of any computer system.

Faulty Circuits
A motherboard that has not been properly designed or that is damaged from the factory can go bad during initial use.
User Error
If liquid is spilled onto a laptop or if the machine is dropped onto a hard surface, the motherboard may become dislodged or short out and cease to function.
Short Circuit
An improperly wired laptop may send an incorrect amount of voltage to the motherboard, resulting in prompt death of the circuit.
Heat
If a laptop has a faulty heat sink or malfunctioning fans, the computer may overheat and cause the motherboard to fail.
Power Supply
Plugging a power supply into a laptop that has a higher power rating than the computer was designed for can cause the motherboard to overload and go bad.
