Kosher Food At Newark Airport

Rumor has it that Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, known by its call sign of EWR, obtained a kosher vending machine. While airport employees deny the claim, there are plenty of kosher options for travelers flying out of Newark.

Near the Airport

The two kosher eateries within a 15-minute drive of the airport are New Kosher Special at:

163 Elmora Ave # B

Elizabeth, NJ 07202-1127

(908) 353-1818

There's also the Real Kosher Sausage company at:

9 Euclid Ave # B

Newark, NJ 07105-4527

(973) 690-5394

Delis

The Garden State Deli can be found in Terminals A and C, and the Stage Deli can be found in Terminal B. Kosher eaters should ask their servers whenever meat or dairy products are served if the meal is kosher.

Vegetarian

There are several options peppered throughout the airport such as Healthy Gourmet, Grain Station, the Grove, Healthy Garden, and the vegetarian sandwiches at Subway. Fruits and vegetables are always kosher, excluding those that contain bugs, which is unlikely here given food safety laws.

Other

EWR has several other chains specializing in defacto kosher fare such as coffee at Starbucks, Café Ritazza, and Seattle's Best or pretzels at Wetzel's Pretzels and Auntie Anne's. Still, it doesn't hurt to ask if the food has been specifically prepared in a kosher manner just to be safe.

On The Plane

Kosher meals can generally be obtained in flights leaving out of Newark Liberty International Airport, and can be ordered when reserving your tickets.
