Make A Coffee Pod

Single-serving coffee makers are becoming very popular. They are convenient, small and easy to use. They can also be very expensive. Each of these pods makes one cup of coffee. Learning to make your own can save you money. You can also make your own blends of coffee.

Instructions

Tea Bag Coffee Pod Method

1. Find tea filter bags. These can be found in health food stores or ordered online. They are thinner than coffee filters and work better in coffee pod machines.

2. Locate a glass about the same size as the coffee pods that your machine uses. Use this to make a circle pattern for your pods. Trace around with a pencil. Cut the tea bags to this size.

3. Seal together the outside edges of two pieces that you have just cut. You can do this with an iron set on silk. Leave an opening to put in the coffee grinds.

4. Pour the coffee into your round pods. Use a funnel. Most coffee pods use about 7 grams or one-third of a cup. You may have to try several until you have the right amount.

5. Seal the opening of the pod with the hot iron. Avoid the steam setting on the iron. Enjoy your coffee pod.

6. Use a stainless steel measuring cup to form the coffee pod. Ensure that it is the same size as your pod holder.

7. Place a small four to five cup coffee filter into the measuring cup. Use a glass or bottle that fits into the measuring cup to form the filter.

8. Add enough coffee to the filter for one cup of coffee. This will depend on your pod maker and personal taste.

9. Fold the excess coffee filter down over the top. If there is too much excess, you can trim it off. You want it to be nice and neatly folded.

10. Press down hard with the glass or jar to make a well-formed pod. Invert the measuring cup and slide out your pod. When using your coffee pod, be sure to place it smooth side downward.
