Fatty Foods To Stay Away From

Steer clear of all pork products.

Fatty foods such as pork sausage, fried foods and fatty cuts of beef are loaded with bad dietary cholesterol and trans fat. The American Heart Association says that a high level of blood cholesterol is a risk factor for coronary artery disease. Avoiding fatty foods can offer some protection against heart disease by preventing artery blockage. Eat chicken, salmon or turkey instead of eating fatty cuts of pork or beef. If you like bacon, you can also eat turkey bacon instead of pork since turkey is much leaner.

Ice Cream

Even a small ice cream cone is loaded with over 300 calories.

Ice cream is high in calories and fat that can cause weight gain. The University of Maryland Medical Center says to avoid ice cream because this food is high in saturated fat. Saturated fat is high in bad artery clogging LDL cholesterol. Avoid all types of ice cream, including ice cream sandwiches and chocolate covered ice cream cones. Save ice cream for special occasions only.

Pork and Lard Fat

Pork is not a healthy meat because this food is very high in fat. Lard is additional fat and grease that drips from pork when it is cooked. Avoid pork and lard altogether. Some restaurants cook with lard instead of butter so always ask if they use lard before ordering. The Mayo Clinic lists lard in particular as a food to limit. Read ingredient labels before buying food because some packaged foods also contain pork products as well. If you like bacon, buy turkey bacon instead.

French Fries

French fries are high in fat and not very filling at all.

According to "Forbes" magazine, french fries are one of the worst fat laden foods that you can eat. Potatoes lose valuable nutrition when heated and fried at high temperatures. The fries soak up fat and grease during the cooking process. Fries are generally cooked with shortening or partially-hydrogenated fats. Fast food restaurants tend to use the cheapest oils as well. A medium sized box of Mc Donald's fries is also more than 500 calories. Avoid this food altogether if possible.

Cheese

Cheddar cheese is high in fat.

Cheese is another high-fat food to stay away from. However, even though cheese is high in fat, it does have nutritional value. Cheese is high in calcium and protein. Instead of eating regular cheese, you can buy low-fat varieties of cheddar, provolone and mozzarella.

Whole Milk

Too much milk is not good for you.

Milk is high in calcium and vitamin D, but whole milk is also high in fat. Choose goat's milk or low-fat cow's milk instead of whole milk. You can also take calcium supplements or drink raw carrot juice to get a good dose of calcium.
