Clam cakes are a wonderful food that is indigenous to Rhode Island--more specifically Rocky Point, where for years families would come to the amusement park, ride the rides and dunk their hot clam cakes into clear Rhode Island chowder.
Instructions
1. Go to Rocky Point Chowder House in Warwick, Rhode Island. This was the spot for decades to buy your clam cakes. While the amusement park is now gone, the Chowder House is still making clam cakes as they did throughout the 20th century. Give them a call at (401) 739-4222; you won't be sorry you made the trip.
2. Check out Rhode Island summer festivals. Yearly festivals that sell clam cakes are the Warren Quahog Festival, the Charlestown Chamber Seafood Festival and the Taste of Rhode Island.
3. Buy the ingredients and make your own Rhode Island clam cakes. Because they are so scarce, it might be your best alternative outside of traveling to Rhode Island.
4. Purchase clam cakes online. You can buy a kit to make clam cakes as well as the ingredients for the batter (see Resources below).
