Measure The Oil When Deepfrying Turkey

Deep-fried turkey has a crisp, golden skin and is deliciously moist. The right-size pot and the right amount of oil are the keys to successful frying. One of the most common questions when deep-frying is calculate the amount of oil that is needed. There's a simple, easy solution to this!


Instructions


1. Select a pot that is large enough to cover the turkey with oil and prevent spillovers. Choose a pot that is narrow and tall. A wide pot will waste oil, and you'll have a more difficult time maintaining the proper temperature for frying.


2. Clean the turkey under cold water.


3. Place the turkey in the pot. Include the turkey holder if using that device. Fill the pot with water, covering the turkey by 1 inch.








4. Remove the turkey from the pot and place it in a pan. Pat the turkey completely dry using paper towels. Make sure all the water is removed from the turkey cavity as well.








5. Place a piece of masking tape on the top of the water line in the pot.


6. Dispose of the water. Dry the pot completely since remaining water will cause the heated oil to explode.


7. Fill the pot with frying oil to the bottom of the masking tape. Remove the masking tape. Heat the oil and proceed to fry the turkey.
